Free The Kinescopes!
Добавлен 10 июл 2019
Free The Kinescopes! is a page devoted to early television history. Be sure to check out our companion page 'The SBC Archive'. We believe in universal access to all television. The kinescope process was one in which live television programs were recorded via a small video monitor onto 16mm or 35mm film. This was the only way to preserve live television for time-shifting, rebroadcast or sale of tv programs. Kinescopes were made obsolete by the invention of videotape, which became commercially available in 1956/57. However, they were still used all the way up through the early 1970s as a means of videotape backup, or for preservation since videotape was frequently erased and reused. This page will focus mainly on these early tv recordings dating from the late 1940s through the late 1960s. Kinescope also went by 'Teletranscriptions' in the USA and 'Telerecordings' in the UK.

For Doctors Only (circa 1958 TV Pilot, WABD)
Просмотров 894Год назад
I don't have much information about this pilot program, other than it was likely kinescoped at the WABD/DuMont studios since it was in with a bunch of other DuMont related films. Dr. Irving Cooper is interviewed about his new surgical techniques in reducing Parkinson's Disease side effects. The odd thing about this pilot is that other actors are portraying the interviewer and Dr. Cooper, as exp...

Wow. Thank You.
I always enjoyed Paul Lynne but now I understand why he's never been successful with his own show. His comedy is best delivered as a support character
Wow, Russell Johnson , Jean Hagen, and a bunch of 40 yr old ball players
1925 - 2021 ARLENE DAHL RIP
So interesting to finally see Ralph Bell, the face behind a voice I'd heard at least 100 times on old time radio shows.
This was 6 years before Johnny took over for Jack Paar. This show was short lived and a disappointment for Johnny. He had to pay his dues like anyone else.
Ed calls Buddy a hillbilly. 13 years before Buddy would star in the Beverly Hillbillies.
hes fabulous
The Great One...For Sure
Originaly telecast on October 6, 1955.
"A dog's gotta have a man around to love just like a man's gotta have a dog. If he wants to be anyways happy."
The concept was interesting, but Paul Lynde was the wrong choice to play the father. Too manic and over the top.
As seen on Thursdays at 9pm(et).
Lynde was perfect on the Hollywood Squares. He was funny even in his normal voice.
Some might complain about the quality of this video, but believe me, in the days of watching television using an antenna, there were times when this would have been considered pretty good.
I'm from northwest Pennsylvania, but don't follow football, so I didn't know the Pittsburgh Steelers had a barbershop quartet. Perhaps budget cuts caused them to remove the quartet from the payroll...
I'm sure that the water free hairspray had plenty of alcohol that actually dried out healthy hair, same as the "Sudden Beauty" junk that my mom destroyed he hair with.
Miss this clean humor from a bygone era. 📺😢💔
A man that gets things done in Washington?
Thank you for the excellent collection! Great source of cultural history. ☮️
“Plan….cause you thought Ensure was the only thing that tasted like shit!” 😂
Interesting! This had promise.
This was kinda fascinating
Wow a.super young Mr.Charlest Heston..man that is great
Once I saw William Asher's name come up, I realized why Paul eventually found a part-time home on Bewitched a couple of years after this attempt. I wonder if Bill was already familiar with him, or it was because of working with Paul on this project that he brought him on for an episode of Bewitched in which he played "Harold Harold" (damn, wish they had made him Howie Howard instead, LOL), the driving instructor trying to teach Samantha how to drive and going crazy when Endora pops in and out of the car the whole time. Then a short time afterward bringing him in as a recurring guest star playing 'Uncle Arthur'. I remember seeing clips from a Hollywood Palace episode hosted by Elizabeth Montgomery where she did several comedy sketches with Paul, I think she loved working with him.
Also, this show uses the same credits font as Bewitched.
Thanks so much. I enjoyed this. I dont remember all of them...but most. Avon Rapture was my favorite Avon cologne back then. When i got old enough i was an Avon Representative
I Love these type of classic commercials
Really love these tv Commercials Brings back the good old days
Creeeeeepy!
Damn, the Chinese parts were kinda cringe.
No mention of the sodium content
LOL!!! could those fights be anymore bogus!??! LOL!!
I was very small but I remembered Morey Amsterdam for some reason. But then there wasn't much else on in those days that my parents watched so it was easy to remember.
Looks like Art Carney at 9:52 or so.
Amo come dirigeva Toscanini È insuperabile ! A volte ascolto von Karajan e altri ma questa perfezione dei tempi non c'è... Fantastico !
Where does one have to look for all 10 episodes?
I've never seen such a bad pour in a beer commercial before. Valley Forge, what were you thinking?
Well, this seems a little like "On the Waterfront." Coincidence ?
This is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!!!
i heard this song in my parents home as a kid
My mom loved working for Bell as an telephone operator in the 60s. 😊
I think that kid Sammy might make it in show biz.
I was reading the old TV Guides and apparently at one point or another there was the sound of an airplane going overhead in an episode. How bizarre!
Cute show, and I love those accents.
This show makes me wish I was Jackie Kennedy or Edie Adams.
3:44 Arch Moore later became West Virginia's governor and pled guilty to accepting illegal campaign contributions, extorting nearly $600,000 from a coal company, obstructing justice, mail fraud and filing false tax returns. He served more than two years in prison.
Plan: Eat one meal a day, and you'll lose weight. Duh! But then if you don't want to eat just one meal a day for the rest of your life, you'll gain it right back.
Very 1940s, I love it! I just noticed this episode turns 75 years old today, which is cool.
Very nice! I love idents, and I love local TV stuff, so this is double cool to me!
An early example of a TV clip show, and better than most clip shows out there.
